In 2010, longtime friends, Mr. Victor Latimer and Dr. Jason Mendez, aspired to establish a distinct artistic movement that is reflective of everyday life. As a result, Art(echo) was born. Art(echo) fuses contemporary, elegant, purposeful, and alluring aesthetics to create a more self-conscious “new art” rather than creating “art for art’s sake”. Dr. Jason Mendez
is a Nuyorican educator, writer, and documentary filmmaker born and raised in the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx. Jason has a PhD in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Mendez's work focuses on Puerto Rican Studies, Critical Race Studies, Cultural Studies in Education, Social Foundations of Education, and Sociology of Education. He is also founder of the Potentialis Centre, a nonprofit organization dedicated to interdisciplinary research, documentary film, and arts-based education.
Mr. Victor Latimer
a Brooklyn, NY native, is an American singer, songwriter, arranger and speaker. What started during childhood in a small Brooklyn church has led him to a 15 year career, touring nationally and internationally; writing, producing and gracing the stage with some of the music industry’s biggest and most respected artists such as Brian McKnight, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Linkin Park, and Fort Minor. Through his music, written work and public speaking, Victor has touched and inspired hearts and minds worldwide, spreading the message of hope, love and purpose. Victor is also the founder and president of Latimer Music Group. His music, written work, and public speaking is dedicated to affecting positive change in all who hear it.
